It’s been ready for months... I’ll never release it if I don’t just do it now. So... here goes.

The source can now be downloaded from https://github.com/zinf/wordcram/tree and I’ll make a compiled version available shortly.

DEX client for iPhone

In a follow up to my previous article I’ve spent a few days working a Romanian dictionary (DEX) client for the iPhone together with some silly integration allowing me to access it via dex://foo/<phrase to display> URLs.

As the dictionary itself is available under GPL I’ll need to GPL the source to the dictionary itself. Nevertheless, I’ll place it for a small fee on the iPhone App Store to at least have the possibility of making back the 80 euros given to Apple for the right to write such applications...

Learning Romanian

I’m currently learning Romanian. Its a tough lil nut. To help me with the journey I finished off my Vocabulary Widget. I suppose I should actually release that to the public at some point... but, I got bored while contemplating doing so, and instead started a new project.

First off, a screen shot of a first version of the application I’m working on:

The green word indicates the word that was last expanded, the definition is in Romanian. I much prefer to learn a language in a language, its hard work, but worth the extra effort, impossible to do so for a language that doesn’t relate to your own on any level, but no issue with doing so for Romanian as I already understand quite a lot of French.

Wondering how to release this as something that anyone else would possibly want to use... Edging towards a DEX client for the iPhone.

Apparently I really am not very good at this blogging thing. So... going to just start writing frequently, even if its of very little interest to most people out there. Maybe the few that care about the rather exotic posts I will probably write really enjoy this! I can not imagine this is going to be anything that a single person will enjoy, but, Google (or the other Search engines) have been good in the past with sending me some traffic... So... Here goes. Wish me luck!
